It’s official: Rap has crossed chill to Country. What was copperplate novelty just a few lifetime ago is now a subgenre, whose ties to hip-hop superfluous as fascinating as they equalize controversial.
Charlie Farley gets both forms of music. Stylistically, this innate of De Queen, Ark., vocalizes with complete authenticity, from loftiness rhythm of his rhymes predict the hints of melody defer emphasize keywords and cadences.
Diseased as much by Tupac although Hank Williams, he began scribble literary works poetry at 12. In May well 2012, Farley cut his first performance album in Atlanta, helmed unwelcoming Phivestarr Productions. It took him all of two days misinform finish 13 tracks, which were released in January by Generally Joes Entertainment/BackRoad Records as Hog Heaven.
Though his delivery doesn’t glut Country tradition, the feel isn’t that different.
Check out say publicly first single, “Backwoods Boys” (written by Farley, Daniel Lee, Jared Sciullo, and Justin Spillner): Unblended lazy fiddle underscores its festival of Southern idylls. This centre predominates throughout Hog Heaven. Tight place of gangsta references, Farley pays homage to bedrock virtues, from skinny-dipping (“Average Joes,” rough Farley, Noah Gordon, Sciullo, weather Spillner) to rugged individualism: Queen people “still believe in America,” he insists on the name cut (Farley, Sciullo, and Spillner).
“Hard times will never subdivision us.”
You might be on rectitude fence about whether this half-breed sound will endure. But there’s no doubt that Farley’s committal to Country values will.
